What is a Technology Refresh Programme?
Software vendors are always releasing new versions of software, with even better functionality, supporting and improving your business processes.
However, it's easy to fall behind the upgrade curve for a release or two and before you know it your business is running critical systems on software that was released years ago.
The risk involved is that a software failure no longer supported by the vendor could result in serious business downtime, loss of revenue, and reputational damage.
By implementing a Technology Refresh Programme, you ensure that your software estate is current and within vendor support agreements.
Most vendors will have an 'extended' support period when your initial vendor support expires. This 'extended' support usually consists of recommended software patches for known bugs and help with upgrading to the latest version of software. If you hit a bug that is not known to the vendor, then they will only recommend an upgrade - software vendors do not develop patches for software in 'extended' support.

- Oracle Database 9.2 – Extended Support retires 31st July 2010
- Oracle Database 10.2 – Premier Support retires 31st July 2010
